Day 280

Sooooo..... I've been off for a while... so much for restarting the diet. Just as I finished all the cookies I made, I got homemade candy goodness in the mail from someone else. Now that THOSE are gone, I am restarting for reals. Plus I didn't feel like posting all the crap I've been eating over the holiday weekends. It's just too depressing how much I can eat. And did. Anyway, after I went for a run on Tuesday and did my Buns of Steel tape yesterday (and then moved a GIGANTIC piece of furniture into the house) I am resting today. Mostly because it hurts to move. but at least I ate less yesterday than I have been. I recorded Monday and it was around 1800. I did better yesterday.

Day 279

So.... right off the bat yesterday, I was a very bad girl, scarfing down 6 peanut butter cookies right after breakfast. They were just sitting there on the counter... taunting me. I should really store them somewhere else. I did my Buns of Steel tape at lunch, then had my chicken soup (for only 140 calories a can, it really is pretty good).

For dinner we went to Dick and Jerry's house, and they were so sweet to keep my diet in mind when making a nice baked chicken breast and wild rice dinner complete with not 1, but 2 vegetable sides that was really quite tasty as it was low calorie. I, of course, had to blow it by bringing the cookies WITH me, and drinking  2 glasses of wine and 2 glasses of champagne, but they are such good hosts keeping your glass filled it was impossible to say no.

Day 277

Yeah, I'm just gonna go ahead and skip all the days that I didn't record anything. Thursday night was Mark's office holiday party at Kell's and I had WAY too much of their secret recipe potato/cheese/sour cream casserole thingy plus 2 pints of cider.

Then Friday I was doing pretty good, then went to a party at Suki's and had a salad (still pretty good) but then managed to have WAY too much to drink and ordered sweet potato fries around midnight (didn't end up eating many because there were drunk people all around helping themselves to them so saved ME a lot of calories) but I didn't even bother to record how many drinks I had.

Then Saturday got up and baked cookies with a hangover (why? I have NO idea) and didn't eat until almost 5pm and had a baked potato so that helped, but then ended up having champagne and cookies to nurse the hangover instead of going to another party.

Sunday I woke up feeling better and suddenly had the urge to try to make the potato casserole thingy from taste memory (shredded potato, cheese, sour cream) but then it didn't turn out quite right and I had to go to the Lovecraft to vend at the craft show. Only made one sale in 3 hours (better than nothing?) and went home to make more baked potatoes and do the grocery shopping. Ended up finishing the ENTIRE casserole with some extra butter and salt and pepper (seemed to be what it was missing) along with several cookies and watching Sherlock which has quickly become our FAVORITE new show. Even though it's not new and we're just now getting it on Netflix.

Monday morning, 147.6 lbs

Thursday, December 15, 2011

Day 276

At least the scale is nice to me when I'm hungover.

Day 274... errr

I shouldn't even COUNT this day, as I was SO not on a diet yesterday. No counting went on, no self-control was had, 7 cookies, 2 servings of Cheddar puffs and a slice of sweet potato pie were eaten... along with Chinese leftovers and ALL the remaining Cottage pie, some spaghetti and half a bottle of wine. So there's your food detail, gah!

So, Tuesday morning, terribly disappointed, but not at ALL surprised, 148.8 lbs.

Monday, December 12, 2011

Day 273... sort of

so technically it's day 275, but I was pretty bad all weekend and didn't even COUNT so I'm pretending they didn't happen.

Monday morning 147 lbs

and I failed to even export Friday's food diary.... and even today... I haven't been counting, since I had leftover Cottage Pie for breakfast (homemade and NO idea how many calories in it), and then had leftover Panda Express for lunch (again, NO idea) and a slice of my sweet potato pie for dessert which, after making it, I found out has over 300 calories and slice AND THAT ONLY IF I'D MANAGED TO CUT IT INTO 12 PIECES!.... soo..... just not even going to count today either. But I did do my Buns of Steel video, so not a complete lump. I dont' know if I'm waiting to restart counting once the pie is gone or what, but just don't feel like it, damnnit.

Friday, December 9, 2011

Day 272

So last night we met with some friends to play a drinking game to the movie A Christmas Story. Yes, you read that right. I have never been a fan of the movie, but this is definitely the way to see it; sweet potato fry in one hand, shot of rum in the other...

Decided to bust out a VHS of Buns of Steel instead that had been languishing on the bottom shelf for who knows HOW long (had NEVER done it before)..... paying for it today, but might be worth it if I keep it up. Day 267 - Woohoo, the scale noticed I'm trying!

Wasn't able to run because I had to go to the allergist and get STABBED 44 TIMES, and then after dinner realized I'd only had 500 calories all day so we went out for a little treat and to pick up a HEPA filter for the bedroom. In the detail it's listed as "Piña colada" but it was listed on the menu as Kraken Lava Colada.... I am not convinced there was actually any Kraken in it at all, since it's the latest item on my list of things that make me sneeze which I finally got diagnosed yesterday as well, as Vaso Motor Rhinitis which makes treating my allergies even more complicated.

Now I feel like I'm being punished way far after the fact. Seriously, I would have understood if the scale was saying this a few days ago when I first looked, but the fact that it's going UP since I started limiting calories again is really just pissing me off. Part of the problem is having Almond Roca in the house, the other part is going grocery shopping and spying the CPK BBQ chicken pizza and that my Safeway out of the blue has suddenly started carrying THE GOOD CIDER. Both of my favorites (Woodchuck and cans of Strongbow!!!!!!) So naturally that was dinner that destroyed all the good I had done by having a can of soup for lunch and going for a short run... even though my ankle isn't quite up for it yet.

Days 254, 255 and 256

Fell COMPLETELY off the diet wagon as soon as PMS hit. Been eating chocolate like it was going out of style and did the final damage yesterday by going to Village Inn and eating nearly my ENTIRE breakfast of strawberry crepes, country potatoes, bacon and biscuit with gravy. I even had one of Mark's pancakes. I felt awful the rest of the day for being so full and I can't even say it was worth it. I simply have no willpower when it comes to those kinds of breakfast foods.

So I am attempting to "restart" the diet - I only had 9.9 pounds to go and now I'm back up so many by this morning that I'm literally embarrassed to post them. And I thought I would weigh LESS after my period. Guess that depends on how much you let yourself eat DURING hell week.

Monday morning, 148.5lbs

Food eaten? Oh, tons. And none of it recorded due to embarrassment but there were entire bags of Halloween chocolate bars and at least two large bags of M&Ms and a jar of honey roasted peanuts.

Thursday, November 3, 2011

Days 252 and 253

As this is "period week" I've been awful about recording things. Especially things like all the chocolate I've been eating.

Day 251 - Halloween!

Ate breakfast really late, and had super yummy leftover curry chicken from Suki's so didn't need to have lunch, then Mark made ham and potato cube dinner so that was good and then we went to the bar and I remembered they added sweet potato fries to the menu....mmmmm..... and then for Halloween they had candy on the bar, so naturally I had to have some.

Days 248-250

Sooooo, I don't actually have any complete recordings of my food intake for the weekend, because after dinner friday there was beer. And Halloween candy. And then Saturday there was lots of errand running and a salad before the rum and sweet potato fries, and then there was beer. And apple martini punch. And that onion dip I love. Oh Halloween parties, how I love thee. Oh and 1 cookie! And Sunday there was leftover chicken curry and then there was beer. And pizza. So pretty much very good on the quantities of food, not so much on the quality, but here we are...

Day 245

Was all set to go for a run yesterday - even filled up my Camelbak and put on my shoes, but then my nose started running and I realized I must have a cold or something. It's kind of hard to tell when I'm taking Zyrtec D every morning, but some symptoms it just can't handle. So I took it easy and had some soup for dinner and sewed up another accessory for my Halloween costume. Then those damn candy corns and pumpkin seeds went and ruined my numbers....

Days 241-244

Sorry about the failure to blog all weekend and yesterday, but I was a VERY busy girl. Busy winning First Place all over town! Friday night I had a trunk show at the Salty Tea Cup. Only made one sale to a customer, but sold $135 worth of stuff to the store owner in trade for $125 worth of her stuff (OMG, the cute things I left there with! If you are local you will see them sprinkled into my wardrobe in the coming weeks so get used to hearing "oh this? This is from the Salty Teacup").

Then Saturday morning we drove up to Washington for the Underwater Pumpkin Carving contest. Stupid Google Navigation TOTALLY failed and made us an HOUR late, but people were still getting into the water and I managed to carve the winning pumpkin! Won a totally cool super warm fleece jacket that I promptly gave to Mark, as it's a size XXL, LOL.

Then ran home to grab the dogs and head off to Scapoose for the Columbia Humane Society's Dogtoberfest and costume contest. There was a little bit of competition from the Great Dane who was dyed red and had a "Clifford" sign hanging around his neck, but my girls swept the competition and walked off with a totally cute stuffed Candy Corn toy. They also had a pretty good spread - pulled pork sandwiches and German hot potato salad. I only ate half my sandwich, but I ate both mine and Mark's potato salad, then had some pineapple upside down cake.

Sunday we ran a few errands, grabbed some Taco Bell for lunch and then I sat down to sew my Halloween Costume. I also ended up making a stuffed turtle for Leeloo, who just LOVES it. And we watched movies and snacked on pumpkin seeds so we didn't have dinner and I completely failed to record my food ALL weekend.

Monday I did VERY well until I remembered we had pumpkin seeds and we opened a new bag of candy corn that we got at the little neighborhood market while walking the dogs, but we also picked up an onion and bell pepper for dinner and overall I did pretty good (see below).

Day 239

Was feeling ill from 4am on... I thought I was hungry. Had my high fiber muffin top for breakfast and regretted that the rest of the day. Felt it again at lunch so I had two servings of spaghetti leftovers (ugh, mistake). Ate dinner between doing my hair and makeup so that was fine. Then went out last night and was chilly so I had my "warming up" drink (Rumplemintz and hot chocolate). Then I ended up ordering some fries (oops!)

Day 238

We seem to be out of snack foods, so I was able to keep the numbers down, but tried to go for a run and got a headache and ended up having to stop and walk home because I felt like I was going to hurl. Showered and ate dinner, but headache came back. Then woke up at 4am (leg itched) then felt too warm and then nauseated again. Not sure if I was hungry, the feelings are similar to me. This is not a good time to feel poorly, I have have WAY too many things on my calendar.

Day 237

So I was very good at lunch and steamed the rest of the broccoli to have with the skin off Mark's baked potato from Monday night, and then had planned to have my leftover ribeye and mash from Friday's dinner from Rose and Thistle for dinner, but just a few bites in I asked Mark if he wanted to trade leftovers because he was having quiche and the steak just wasn't tasting very good to me. We traded and he deemed the steak "inedible" and proceeded to make himself a bagel sandwich since he really didn't want the quiche anyway. I'm telling you, the man just does NOT like leftovers. So I had a little more of the mashed potatoes, but they were all watery so I ended up eating pumpkin seeds instead. Apparently my body liked that idea and dropped 2 pounds instantly.

Days 234, 235 and 236

Apparently I was very bad on Friday, but we went out to celebrate Mark getting a 50 cent raise :)
And then I apparently failed to even record anything on Saturday or Sunday so I can be reasonably sure I was bad then too, though I'm not sure since I didn't really eat dinner on Saturday (but went to a party) and Sunday Mark and I split a slice of cheese pizza and some peanuts for lunch. I also made a quiche for lunch on Saturday (at 340 calories a slice) and then Sunday made more bagels and toasted some pumpkin seeds.

Day 233

Was having another fairly bad itching night. I have been allowing myself WAY too many snacks on nights when I have severe discomfort. At least I didn't drink a whole bottle of wine last night like I did on Wednesday. Made wheat bread for the first time... was a little difficult to slice, but managed it. Finally slept through the night though, so that's something.

Day 232

O.M.G. I really over did it, but OMG, my leg was KILLING me with itching and I figured anything that would distract me from that would be worth it. I'm not sure I feel the same way today considering the scale's reaction to my night of indulgence. As it turns out there are 5 glasses of wine in a bottle, not 3, and I just kept eating chocolate bars until I was finished. Oops!

Day 231 - uh oh, book club!

I always end up eating more than I should when we go to book club. Is it the limited menu at the Backstage Bar? or that I have to have more than one glass of wine? OH I know what it is.... it's going to see a movie after. I really have to plan for a trip to the movies, since I'm completely incapable of going without a snack.

A little backsliding here today, but now the house is free of cake and pistachios, so I should be fine. And in another day or so I should be able to run on this leg, so that's good. Transitioning from pain to itch today - I personally thinking itching is worse, but that means it's healing.

Days 227, 228 and 229 - Fifth Wedding Anniversary and Tattoo

We had a whirlwind weekend starting at the Ruby Spa at Edgefield on Friday night for some soaking pool time before our formal dinner for 2 (which we ended up splitting). Though it occurs to me now that I completely forgot to add the split Caesar salad and the bread we had before our meal. Oh well. Then Saturday I barely ate at ALL, which totally explains the shakes I had by the end of my 7.5 hours of tattooing but not why I was still unable to eat my dinner salad. Too excited I guess. Then Sunday, a whole day of lounging on the sofa and snacking more than made up for Saturday, LOL.

Monday morning, umm.... dunno.

Day 226 - Cheeseburger Cheeseburger!

So I joined a new running group that meets at a bar in NE on Thursday nights, goes for a 5k run and then drinks beer. Sounds great, right? Well, they're all nice enough, but half of them are early 20's and "started running in college" and by the time we'd gone one block they all left me in the dust. Exactly what I expected, but it was getting dark (didn't take off till 6:45pm) and it was raining and I was only vaguely aware of the route and very unfamiliar with the area. So I ended up doing the 5k all by myself, in the dark, in the rain, almost entirely UPHILL along Interstate Ave. By the time I got back to the bar, most of the people were on their 2nd beer so I grabbed one and found a seat. Haven't decided if I'll go back yet. That hill was pretty gruesome. So when Mark and I got to Sukis for karaoke I figured I deserved a cheeseburger. Besides, with eating my low cal breads all day I had the calories to spare.

Day 225 - I made bagels. and DAMN they are good.

So I am taking issue with what my little program says about bagels. Why in the HELL should a bagel have almost 300 calories in it? Mine don't! I did some research last night to confirm my theory, but food only contains as many calories as the sum of it's ingredients! It's not like when you combine yeast and sugar they make MORE calories. Therefore my bagels which only contain:

water = 0
1.5 tsp salt =  0
2 Tbsps sugar = 92
3 cups bread flour = 1320
2.25 tsp yeast = 0

equals 1412 divided by 9 servings is only 156.8 calories per bagel!!!! What the CRAP do they put in everyone else's bagels??? Do I even want to know? So basically, homemade IS low calories bagels! I wonder how many are in my French bread.. lets see... water, salt, yeast - all zero. Ok, 2 tsp sugar and 3 cups flour. That's 1350 total, and I cut it into 28 slices, that's 48 calories a slice!!!!!! Sure, they are kinda small since they were supposed to be baguettes and ended up being two slightly short loaves, but good GRIEF! What the hell is making regular sandwich bread be over 100 calories a slice???? and this tastes SOOO much better. I wonder then, why other yummy real food things have to have so damn many calories... like a little red potato. WTF potato? Why you so laden with calories? I love you. Why you be so mean? Anyhow.... fresh, homemade bagel for breakfast... mmmmmm.......

Day 224

So I went for a tiny little 2 mile run at lunch, but then had WAY too many snacks after dinner because we were watching a movie and I had no crafting thing to occupy my hands. With the weather turning chilly so fast, perhaps I should have dragged out my knitting? Anyhow, I settled on toast for breakfast yesterday, but now we are officially out of bread so I have to bake some more today. I felt much better after the toast than Monday after the high-fiber cereal and milk, so I'm debating going with something like that again or reintroducing one of the variables (high-fiber) in the form of a Vitatop (for anyone unfamiliar with these things that keep popping up in my list, they are muffin tops in many flavors - I only like the chocolate and corn ones - that are high in fiber and only 100 calories.). It's chilly (70 degrees in my office) so I may go for a bowl of instant oatmeal instead. Yeah, instant, blah, blah, blah, but it's all I've got.

Day 223

So I broke the "homemade" trend first thing in the morning with a bowl of cereal, and paid the price for it all day. I felt so bad I didn't even get a run in. I'm not sure if it's the high fiber content or the milk still. This has been an ongoing problem that I tried to solve with soy milk, but didn't see much difference, so maybe it's just the high fiber bit? Regardless, I will NOT be having cereal for breakfast today. Though, that leaves the question, what the heck am I gonna have???

Picked up the "new" food processor last night, washed it out and chopped fresh broccoli and then put it in a bowl of water with some bullion and herbs and stuck it in the microwave for 5 minutes to steam. Strained it and plopped it on my baked potato with some non-butter and light sour cream. Was pretty good. Could have used a couple more minutes of steaming as it was still crunchy. Then use the food processor to whip up some shortbread dough. Man, that made it worth the $15 right there! Did you know there are only 3 ingredients in shortbread? Yeah. Flour, sugar and butter. So easy and we usually have them all in the house. 25 minutes on 325 and you have awesome homemade cookies. Can't eat too many though, because of the butter. Not sure my program has the correct calorie count, but still.

Day 222 - Homemade

As predicted, it's a lot harder to eat low cal AND homemade. Low cal stuff must literally be made from air and I don't know how to get that into recipes. Either that or the candy corn ruined everything. Good thing I ate it all. Plus, there's a lot of things I really don't know how to record - like how much of the butter I put in the pan to cook the french toast do I have to count? How much of the beer I put in the stew? BUT I am happy to report the ENTIRE weekend (aside from drinks) was homemade. Yesterday I made french toast with the homemade sourdough bread and then we had my crockpot beef stew. Twice. The first time at 3pm with the last of the sourdough (it wasn't QUITE done) and then again at 8pm with the first of my 2nd loaf of bread made entirely of ingredients... that sounds weird. I guess by "from ingredients" I mean "from scratch". It had in it only: water, margarine, sugar, salt, flour and yeast. That's it. White bread is only supposed to have 6 ingredients. Look on your bags of store bought and see how many it has. Yeah, that's exactly why I decided to start baking our own.

Now, this loaf I didn't make entirely "by hand" because I bought a bread machine at a garage sale this weekend ($5, woohoo!) so all I did was throw in the ingredients and wait 3 hours and BOOM! bread. However, we discovered that the "non-stick" coating in it leaves a LOT to be desired and we ended up losing the whole bottom of the loaf. I had purchased a couple bread pans from the dollar store on Saturday, so this isn't a huge deal, just means we'll be using a bit more energy to bake the bread if I have to do it in the oven and just use the machine to mix and knead the dough which was the super messy bit before anyhow. I mean, I'm REALLY glad I took my rings off before I started because at one point I had to use my elbow to turn on the water I was so covered in goo. Alternatively, I could try spraying cooking spray into the bread maker. We'll try it one time and see what happens.

Day 220 and 221 - it couldn't last

So, I pretty much knew when I saw the 144 the other day that it couldn't be real. You can't really go from 148 one day to 144 the next, it just isn't possible. What IS possible is the 146 I have kept for two days though. Hopefully that will last thru the next little experiment.

We are beginning a new challenge here at the Tucker household that is going to make counting and recording exact calories SUPREMELY more difficult. In a little burst of peer pressure (and in response to reading this), we made a trip to the produce aisle of the store and picked up some veggies and have planned out the whole weekend's worth of meals (and then some) involving nothing but homemade or whole foods. The days of my 45 calorie bread, I fear, have been quite left behind.

It started innocently enough with a stir fry of steak, peppers and pea pods over brown rice on Friday night, then Saturday I made sourdough bread. Granted, it was from a mix, but it was a start. Then I threw together the ingredients for crockpot beef stew (cooking now, will have for dinner tonight) and fried up some chicken sausage with peppers and onions that we had with some of the sourdough for dinner last night. So far so good.

Day 219 - OMG OMG OMG!

So.... I have NO idea what I did right.... it's just as mysterious and when I do things wrong. Was it eating a salad for dinner? Was it packing my shit up and taking myself to Last Thursday? Was it staying near or under 1300 calories 4 days this week? Was it keeping up a running schedule this week? WHAT DID I DO RIGHT SO I CAN KEEP DOING IT? I just know this is all going to be a dream and I'll wake up tomorrow back up at 148 or something, but I'm going to enjoy it today.

Day 217

Ok went WAY over yesterday due to the confusing nature of the Chevy's menu. For one, I didn't know that rice and beans came with the combos (I probably should have assumed) and I am incapable of passing those up regardless of their calorie content once they find their way onto my plate. I managed to save my two tacos for later, but did have to have a Kraken Fruit Punch (since I was there and all). I had to look up the Nutritional Information online this morning since the calorie values printed on the menu (and in fact, the ones in my phone program) were wrong and incomplete and didn't tell you things such as the calorie listing for fajitas does NOT include the tortillas (contrary to what the server will tell you!) Needless to say, there is precious little that I can eat at any restaurant these days that wont put me over my daily limit and that is especially true at Mexican places.

Days 213-216

I barely remember Friday.... Saturday I played underwater hockey and started out good, but then I went out and had some wine and snacks and that kinda blew it. Sunday I had a photoshoot that I mostly planned for all day and then ate like crazy when I got home and so I lost track of what all I had (all I know is I had half a tub of hummus and the rest of the cheese garlic toast along with a GIANT helping of spaghetti - who knew modeling would make me so hungry?) And Monday I was exceptionally good. Plus I went for a 3.5 mile run after work.

Day 212

I never know how much to put here about bathroom habits. What's TMI when you are trying to explain how things go in but they don't come out and that's why you're still carrying at least an extra pound or two all week? Anyway, after my high fiber morning breakfast, I went BACK to the bathroom and finally got the courage to step on the scale. Although at this point I'd already EATEN breakfast, so that's at least another few ounces, right?

Day 210

Ok, so I know that I shouldn't have suggested ordering pizza the day after I had prime rib, but I was feeling down (being sad for toothless doggie and sad for me for having to PAY for it) and really didn't feel like making do with leftovers especially since I have a SERIOUS lack of dessert in the house. I'm just seeing if I can go a week without the M&M cookies and it's making me CRAZY.

Day 209 - Woohoo, Prime rib!

So for the first time in over 200 days, I just HAD to get my prime rib on. It had been too long. Before I was dieting (B.D.) I was actively attempting to rate all the local prime rib in Portland. Sadly, before I could finish the top contender went out of business and I had to practically start over - re-evaluating everyone who had fallen short. Then the other day I noticed that another contender went out of business as well. DAMN. So now I had to find some NEW place to rate and I still feel like I'm not getting  the best out there. I rate mostly on taste, because if it's extraordinary, that's all that counts, but if it's just average or even just good, then price counts just as much.

We went to a rather unlikely place on the NE Portland/Gresham border called the Refectory whose website claims their "20 hour slow roasted prime rib is the specialty of the house and a major reason customers visit us time and time again." On Sunday and Monday nights they offer this with a salad, potato, bread and a glass of house wine for only $18.95. Not too shabby price wise, and their house Merlot was pretty good. The prime rib itself didn't knock my socks off, but coupled with the wine and the price it would get me back in the door. It's been a while since I've had it from our local pizza joint, Pizza Roma, but last time I went on a Friday night for their special which includes salad, pasta salad, and a giant Texas toast for around $13, it was better. The atmosphere at Refectory was better though, big old world wooden booth dinner place with no children in sight.

But you didn't come here looking for a Prime Rib review, right? Sadly, with my crazy morning I had (had to get Luna to the vet for a dental appointment at 8am and couldn't give her breakfast but had to walk her till I got a "sample" for the vet) I did not have time to weigh myself.

So, Tuesday morning ???? lbs.

Days 206-208

So clearly I can no longer be counted on to blog on the weekends. I pretty much don't even turn the computer ON and for some reason I can't access this site properly on my phone.

I don't remember if I accurately recorded everything I ate Friday (we went to Tigardsville Station to see Crystal's band play that night) because I don't know exactly how many calories were in the half a cheeseburger and fries I ate. Plus I think I had a beer that didn't get recorded. The bad news is somehow I've gotten off track again and wasn't able to eliminate all weekend so after Friday's lovely number I'm now back up to 148.7 lbs.

I went out planning to run a 10k yesterday. I got up, ate half a bagel and ended up running 7.15 miles because the stupid mile marker signs stop halfway across the Glenn Jackson Memorial bridge. After my run, I washed both dogs and took a shower. By the time I got dressed, I was woozy and had to sit down and eat half a pear and wait for Mark to get home with lunch (fried rice). I had a 2.5 cups of that and a 100 calorie serving of popcorn, but that's it for the whole day and still woke up at 148.7 lbs.

Day 205

No sooner to I get done bitching, then I lose 3 lbs???? WTH??? Not that I'm complaining, I just don't GET it. I didn't eat any less yesterday, I didn't run yesterday, I drank 3 alcoholic beverages yesterday... oh hey, is that the key? Drink and lose weight? LOL, doubt it. Maybe because I didn't eat anything after 7pm? I really really wanted to though....I did manage to eat one of those pears in the fridge, which, is not yet rotting because IT WASN'T EVEN RIPE YET, geez, nothing like an over crunchy pear, but I was STARVING and couldn't have walked the dogs without it. Oh, there's that.. we walked the dogs to the store (2.5 mi. round trip) but we used to do that all the time. We did it this past Sunday (it was probably too hot for them that day, but last night it was awesome out - even sprinkling a little for the first part). Anyway... I'm running today... pretty sure I'm gonna do 5 miles at lunch. My other option is to wait till after work and attempt 6 miles. Or I could wait and attempt my 6 miler on Sunday morning. Supposed to rain. That would be neat. Haven't run in the rain in a LONG time.

Days 203 and 204

You may be wondering why I didn't post yesterday. Maybe you didn't notice. Well, it's because it's not going well, and I am distraught - even embarrassed to have to report that I am GAINING weight now. I really don't think that I'm eating that much more (in general - yes, there have been days when I "shouldn't have") but for fuck's sake, it's been OVER 200 DAYS already and I'm getting a little friggin tired of this whole diet thing.

Will I EVER be able to eat what I want again? Will I have to give up drinking and going out entirely just to look good? And if I give up going out, what the HELL is the point of looking good? I'm really hoping it's just too many days of not being able to run because of the heat (but geez, I've already run twice this week - not like last week where I only got in one maybe two for the whole week and I'm going again tomorrow!) I thought the solution was getting the treadmill, but as it turns out, I really HATE the treadmill. I will be selling it soon if anyone wants it. $60, works great, just is boring as FUCK.

Days 199, 200 and 201

I was clearly a bad girl this weekend. First off, there were the martinis Friday after work. Then Saturday we went to Renn Faire. Though I don't remember eating all that much, just some chicken and rice plus one beer, one cider and split some ice cream with Mark. Then for dinner we hit Stanford's happy hour and I had the Southwest Chopped Salad (happy hour sized, so I ate all of it) and had a strawberry Sangria.

Sunday we walked to the Farmer's Market with the doggies and then stopped at Mehri's Bakery for breakfast. Praline French Toast. But then I didn't eat again until dinner we split a can of ravioli. So even though I failed to record the weekend's food, I really don't think I went that far over. It must just be the "not running" I've been doing so often due to the bloody heat. SO glad that is ending this week. But I'm going for a run now! Wish me luck!

Day 198

Went a little overboard on the snacks yesterday because I was feeling crappy (or rather failing to feel crappy if you get my meaning) and thought that perhaps my 4 day weekend of drinking more than usual had somehow rearranged my insides and that now I needed to drink SOMETHING to get them moving again. I opted for a couple bottles of cider and that seemed to do the trick. If nothing else, it made me feel less pain in the abdomen region, so that's good. Plus I freaking LOVE those M&M cookies from Safeway.

Day 188

It was an odd day. I was thoroughly sick of eating peanut butter and jelly for lunch so I actually cooked some farfalla (it's listed as spaghetti, but whatever). But then I realized we were out of sauce so I actually made up a fake sort of alfredo sauce.... it's not listed because I have NO idea how to count it... I chopped up some fresh onion from the garden, put in a teaspoon of minced garlic and used up the rest of the container of I Can't Believe it's Not Butter (less than a tablespoon I think) and the last of the grated parmeseam (less than a serving). So I should probably add maybe 60 to 100 more calories, but whatever. It's entirely possible my 'sugar cookies' don't actually have THAT many calories in them, I just have no way of finding out. They are from the Safeway deli.

Days 184-187

I'm getting really bad about not doing this on the weekends, huh? I'm pretty sure one of the days I didn't even record food at all... probably Saturday when I went to Brads BBQ and didn't eat anything until after 3pm and mostly had beer and a little BBQ chicken. I was seriously under that day. And then I didn't feel very well on Sunday and didn't eat much then either..... but Saturday and Sunday I woke up to 147.8 lbs. Too bad it didn't last. Monday I was back to 149 something. But here it is Tuesday and we've settled in the middle at...

Day 183

Was pretty good all day, then went to Last Thursday with Mark and we found a table in the shade outside of the crepe place (YUM!) and shared one savory and one sweet crepe. I was obviously unable to find an exact match in my program so they are listed rather dully in the food detail, but the actual ingredients were:

savory: Prosciutto, Gruyére and camelized onion in a buckwheat crepe
sweet: homemade nutella, white chocolate and chocolate sauce

I was pretty good yesterday... resisted the urge to have a second dessert by busying myself finishing up the tail portion of Luna's alien costume. I can now say I have sewed a plushie spinal column, lol. I just have to figure out how I'm going to attach it to the harness and her. Oh yeah, and I treadmilled for 25 minutes.

Days 176 to 179

As my regular readers may notice, I've been slacking off as of late.... I don't know if it's because I've been over-eating or under-exercising, but the combination has me stalled just under 150lbs. Saturday we picked up a treadmill at a yard sale, though, so hopefully these super warm days will no longer be an excuse not to run, and I will TRY to get my calorie in-take under control. After doing a nearly nude photoshoot (chainmail bikini) yesterday, I sure would like to get these last 14 lbs off!

Monday morning, 149.4 lbs

Question.... how many of you actually read through the food detail? Is it interesting at all? should I keep posting them? In the last 4 days, only Saturday's list even got exported off my phone (the only day I was good), so here it is:

Days 174 and 175

I don't know what happened to Monday's food detail... I only just today figured out how to export from the new version of my software. Monday after work Mark took me out for my favorite Italian food and a soup-bowl sized glass of Chianti to cheer me up, and it worked. So yesterday I had my leftovers for breakfast ('cause they were so damn good I couldn't wait to eat them) and then fired up the BBQ and made burgers for dinner. It ended up being a nice night out, so around 8pm I went for a "little" 5 mile run. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it, having not run since my 5k on Friday, but it ended up being just fine. I stopped at Safeway near the end and picked up some chocolate bars to have for dessert this week since I'm taking a break from dairy to try to fix some problems with my tummy.

Day 171 - Catnip 5k Race Day!

This was only my 2nd race since I started the diet, and the first one was only a couple months in. For that one I really didn't plan well and ended up doing my warm-up walk DURING the race, so my time sucked. THIS time, I ran it to place. While I couldn't possibly have done that (the woman who took first can run a 5 minute mile!) I did improve my time DRAMATICALLY. Mark says I would have gotten the "most improved runner" award if there had been such a thing. Official time 36:53.

Day 169

It's kinda sad that I can't be happy that I'm under 150 lbs for the first time in over 5 years because before the scale settled on 148, it had to go and show me 146 and 147. Why must I spend a week (or more) at 148 when I've SEEN that it was less before. And why was it the lowest the morning after Dick's bachelor party? It's not like I drank a lot (4 total the whole night) and dehydrated myself. Yeah, I didn't have much for dinner (3 potstickers) but I had a big 'ole piece of someone's birthday cake. It's not like I went dancing or anything - we pretty much just shuffled from bar to bar till we got to the Rocky Horror theatre where I only sat for about an hour before going home. So no real exercise (except for a few moments of chasing Janet around the theatre to catch my bra - but I got her really quick!). The scale. It taunts me.

Days 164, 165 and 166... the Filmusik movie, the Bachelor Party and the wedding

I think I remember Friday.... we went to a 10pm screening of the worst movie ever, but it was cool, because they had the sound turned off and there was a live band, voice actors and our friends were doing the sound effects. Something you definitely have to see to at least once.

Saturday I worked a complete waste of time craft show (didn't even make my booth fee back) and then went to a bachelor party (totally fun!)

Sunday went to a gay wedding - beautiful, geeky and super fun, but was completely incapable of recording my food because I ate things I couldn't even identify at the wedding potluck. Sometimes you just gotta try the "green chicken thing." Which ended up being really yummy. And cake. Who can turn down cake?
