Diet Day 70

Despite the evils of jelly beans (a fat free food) that made me go over yesterday, I was able to drop the Vegas weight plus another half! And the jelly beans are gone now so I only have to worry about those damn Cadbury eggs.

Working my way back to diet land

Leftover Easter candy in the stores tripped me up yesterday, but as a Cadbury creme egg has the same number of calories as a Skinny Cow ice cream cup (and was on sale) we picked up several of those instead of my usual treat. I also found some "mousse" cups by the pudding snacks at only 60 calories a serving so I'll see how those are today. Panda Express for dinner, and I had saved enough calories to have chow mein and then...TADA! couldn't finish it! So I got to have extra dessert - some stale jelly beans which were TOTALLY not worth it.

Wednesday morning, 162 lbs

Food detail:
deep chocolate vita top - 100
2 98% fat free hot dogs - 80
100 calorie pak pringles - 100

Days 64 to 68 - The Vegas Weekend

Hello dear readers! So good to be home after a FABULOUS weekend with the girls. And much to my surprise, the scale was not terribly mean to me (in fact, were I not terribly "backed up" as consuming too much alcohol tends to do to the system) I might even be the same as the day I left. I counted not a single calorie all weekend, but did tend to make smaller portion choices and skipped many meals in favor of light snacking. Overall, I think I did pretty well considering I HAD to have the Sinful Southern Pie at Lagasse's and the chocolate croissant at Buchon.

Tuesday morning, 162 lbs

Diet Day 62

So my dear readers, this will be my last entry for the week, as I am taking off tomorrow for fabulous Las Vegas for my girl Rachel's Bachelorette Weekend Extravaganza! And as they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so not only will I not be blogging, but I am taking a break from counting calories. I know, a dangerous concept, and will probably sabotage all my hard work,  but I will avoid buffets tables and craps tables all all costs and try to keep all my calorie intake to chocolate and alcohol. Just kidding. Maybe.

Two Months In...

I was really going to be good yesterday (a lot of my posts begin that way, don't they?) I even worked it out that I could have ONE peanut butter Oreo cookie with the rest of my wine with dinner and then we went to a birthday party for a friend. It was ok when they brought out the store bought cupcakes, I could have resisted those, but when they brought out the homemade rum cake and the homemade chocolate Kalua vodka cake, I broke down. I shared a slice with Rachel, but still, that put me over.

Day 59

So I was totally going to be good and stay under my new calorie limit of 1010 yesterday, EVEN though I ran a 5k (with a horrible time of 44 minutes - I keep getting worse instead of better) AND went out and hacked blackberry roots off the hillside in the backyard for 2 hours BUT when we got to the venue for the Barfly Awards last night and I saw they had Strongbow in a can, I just couldn't resist. So I went over by 200 calories on account of 16.9 oz of cider.

Monday morning, the scale was having a temper tantrum and the consensus over the THREE different places I put it on the floor was 162.5 lbs.

Food detail:
2 mini Jamba Juice 5 Fruit Frenzy (free from race sponsors after the 5k) - 340
1/2 leftover spaghetti bolognese - 237

Days 57 and 58

I don't really remember Friday, it was so long ago. Only that I was happy it was Friday and Mark made dinner and that we went to Suki's but I only had one drink. The hours between 4pm and 9pm somehow slipped by.

Saturday morning, 163 lbs

Food detail:

Thomas' light english muffin - 100

cooked with 1/2 serving saltines - 30

1/2 cup sliced mushrooms - 8
1 tablespoon ranch dressing - 73
1 oz rum - 64
Eating Right light ice cream cup - 100

total = 1042

So yesterday I totally swamped, had a 4-hour photo shoot that I took a bunch of props to (showed up with a suitcase AND carry-on full of clothes, shoes and props, then went out to dinner at my favorite Italian place, New York New York (because I hadn't eaten all day) and then went to Sukis for a couple hours before going to bed early to get ready for my 5k this morning. I had 2 drinks at Sukis, but one of them had a LOT more calories than usual, so I went over my limit.

Then at 8am this morning I ran a 5k fundraiser for juvenile diabetes. Then dug blackberries off the hill for 2 hours. I am more sore from that than the race.

Sunday morning, 163.5 lbs

Day 56 - Tax Day!

I seem to have hit a wall. This week did not see any weight loss. In fact, here I am a week later and 1 lb MORE than last Friday. Am I making bad food choices? Can I absolutely not eat anything whose ingredients cannot be identified and counted? There were several of them this week, most recently the Dan Dan noodles (which I really thought I could count since there is a listing for Pei Wei Dan Dan, BUT it does not say what size a "serving" is), on Monday the McMennamins Garden Burger, and starting with last Thursday's beef tenderloin. I'm still 3 weeks from my first period on this diet so it can't be that already. Is it my interrupted runs? Last Saturday's when I got picked up after 2.5 miles or Tuesday when I had to stop every time a dog needed to pee?

So I went back to the Livestrong website to see if I needed to recalculate my calorie intake since I am 12 lbs lighter than when I started. OMG. That's IT! I put in my new weight and now I will be limited to 1010 calories per day! CRAP! I totally forgot that part of weight loss. That the heavier you are, the easier it is to make a change since ANYTHING you do will help. But now that I have already lost 7.1% of my body weight I need to readjust my intake so that I am only giving it what it needs to survive so the pounds can still come off. And this whole past week (except for Monday) I have been OVER that.

Well, let's see if we can change that starting NOW.

Friday morning, 163 lbs.

Food detail:

3 servings fat free cool whip - 45

total  = 1085

Day 55

This diet is starting to feel interminable. All I can think of is foods I shouldn't have. Got take out "pan Asian" (whatever that means) but this local place called Wei Wei has a dish called Dan Dan Mein that's just like Dan Dan Noodles at P.J.Changs only they give you WAY more chicken and sauce for half the price. It was obviously more than a serving so I put half in a tupperware container, but what remained made me too full. So it was probably much more than the calorie count I found for Pei Wei's Dan Dan Mein in my counter program on my phone. Does anyone know if Pei Wei and Wei Wei are related companies?

Thursday morning, 162.5 (just barely - the scale was having trouble making up it's mind again)

Food detail:

Day 54

Went for a run finally - didn't run the WHOLE time because the route included the "killer hill" plus I had Mark and the dogs with me so there were occasional potty stops (Leeloo thinks she has to water EVERY clump of tall grass in the world). Made the baked chicken and brown rice for dinner again... it's starting to get boring, but it's simple and yummy. Got the biggest chicken breast I've had so far this time (4 oz after cooking!) and it was much more filling than, say, a 2 oz one. The scale was nice to me this morning.

Wednesday morning, 162.5

Food detail:

Thomas' whole wheat light english muffin - 100
Ready Pac Bistro BBQ smokehouse salad - 260

Day 53

Was inexplicably hungry yesterday. Hope this does not signify a period of increased difficulty sticking to this. Still incapable of entering a movie theatre on a weekday for fear that the smell of theatre popcorn would put me over my limit. (last week when we went to Sucker Punch, the theatre food WAS my dinner and we went to an early show to accommodate said feeding time).

Tuesday morning, still 163.5

Food detail:
Kashi 7 grain waffles - 150

Days 51 and 52

So, you may have noticed I didn't blog yesterday. Well, I was busy. But that's just an excuse, I didn't want to. I didn't want to have to put that the pound I lost on Friday was back. Or premature. Or whatever. I have no explanation for it or excuse, the food detail section will attest to that. Perhaps it's Newton's law of motion in play. This weekend I did not see any "equal and opposite reaction" to the action of eating. So all the food pounds are still in my body. I don't know. But yesterday I didn't feel terribly well, so maybe the fruit smoothie I had for breakfast is just doing it's job on my intestines and we'll see progress tomorrow. Maybe.

I did try to run this weekend, but even that was cut short by having to go pick up my car from the muffler shop before they closed. And I never did get to go dancing.

Monday morning, 163.5 again :(

Day 50 in which all is right with the world again

Had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for lunch out of the only foods I could find around the house. Weight Watchers shredded cheese doesn't melt so good.

Went to the junkyard after work - treasure hunt for bits of my new car that were missing or damaged. Ended up getting a new tail-light, headlight, glove box lock, sun visor retaining clip, muffler, and lug wrench. Installed  the first four items when we got home and then found the stupid loud non-muffler on my car was welded on, so we'll have to figure out how to get that off before we can put on the stock one from the junkyard.

Then had baked potatoes for dinner and got all gussied up and went out with my girl Rachel. Got several compliments on my new dress.

Saturday morning, 162.5

Food detail:

Kashi GoLean crunch - 200

Day 49 in which dieter outsmarts the DMV

So to complete the car saga with a happy ending (after ANOTHER 1.5 fruitless hours at the DMV that morning) I contacted the one guy who used to own my car that WOULD return my phone calls and just had him sign a brand new bill of sale - over to ME. Walked in and out of a different DMV with temporary registration and license plates in 15 minutes pretty as you please. Ruby is all mine.

After all that, we decided to celebrate by going to Stanford's for dinner. They are having a special where you can get an appetizer and two entres for $25. Mark had the pizza (of course) and I had the tenderloin tips in Cabernet demi-glaze. O.M.G. The mashed potatoes must have had cream or something in them the meal was SO good, but in calculating my calories it just didn't seem right so I stayed way under my limit just in case.

Friday morning, 163.5 (though it did flash 162.5 for a moment, but I'll be patient)

Food detail:

1 serving Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal - 200
1/2 cup skim milk - 43
1 slice Eating Right whole grain honey white bread - 65
1 Tbspn reduced fat creamy peanut butter - 90
6 oz beef tenderloin - 252

2 oz rum - 128

Day 48 in which dieter turns into Nancy Drew

So I know you didn't all tune in to hear my car saga, but it's my blog and this is what's happening in my life. So yesterday at lunch I went and picked up the Certification of Ownership Facts form from the DMV which the DMV call center guy told me might be a way around all the stupid boys and their missing paperwork, and then I drove to the address listed on the bill of sale from the salvage yard looking for a Mr. Simon Williams. I found the house, and knocked on the door.... no answer (as expected) BUT there was a '67 Cutlass parked out front with a for sale sign on it that included a phone number. I jotted it down and went home. I called the number and YAY! got ahold of Simon who was understandably a little confused as to who I was, but happy to help and agreed to send me the bill of sale from him to...... YES! the other missing guy! The last missing puzzle piece. (His confirmation that he sold it to him was what confirmed that the car has in fact had 7 owners since February and not some infinite number). Anyway, I celebrated with some lasagna and a lovely glass of '05 Dolcetto and a Hershey's chocolate bar. Yeah, it put me over my daily limit by a bit, but I didn't care.

Thursday morning, 163.5

Food detail:

Kashi 7 grain waffles - 150

skinny cow low fat dulce de leche ice cream cup - 150

Day 48 - In which all dieters hopes and dreams are shattered

So the "new car" is currently a nightmare. The car itself is fine, but when I went to DMV to try to register it, I found out that I could not. Apparently, this car has been traded and passed around SEVEN times since the title was signed over to a scrap yard on February 2nd. OF THIS YEAR.That's less than 65 days. And not one, but AT LEAST TWO of the goddamned stupid fucking little shit punk kids did not sign bills of sale. And NONE of them registered it. And for some reason the DMV thinks it's MY responsibility to track them down. HOW THE FUCK I'm supposed to do that, they wont tell me. Seriously, how do you find someone you don't know? How would you know if you did? If I even found the right person and asked "did you sell a 97 Eclipse" they could lie and say no just to be contrary and I would have no idea. I was so depressed yesterday that we went to the movies. Sucker Punch wasn't exactly what I expected. And I ate nachos and ice cream bites. And with all the worry, I STILL lost another pound.

Wednesday morning, 163.5

Food detail:

Dannon light and fit yogurt - 80
8 oz OJ - 112
Arby's Grilled chicken chopped Farmhouse salad - 250
1 Tbspn light ranch dressing - 35

Day 47 - Dieter gets A NEW CAR!

Ok, not new, it's 14 years old, but it's new to me, and if you've been following my vehicle saga at all, you know that I have had just rotten luck with cars for a while. Ever since that seemingly perfect Del Sol (whose major faults were not having a back seat for puggies and being the DEVIL to shift) I have purchased one problem car after another. So yesterday I checked Craigslist to see if any new Eclipses had been posted for sale (it was a long and complicated road that led me to desire an Eclipse, ask me if you're interested), and there was one who was willing to trade for an Integra. Woohoo, the chance to get a car I would like AND get rid of the car that had stranded me more times than I can count in one foul swoop? You bet! Anyway, long story short, I traded him the Teggy and $600 and got a shiny, beautiful, sporty ride that hopefully will keep me happy for a long time. Just as soon as I can get that damn "car air freshner" smell out of it. :)

Tuesday morning, 164.5

Food detail:

Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal - 200
1/2 cup skim milk - 43
2 slices serving Eating Right whole grain honey white bread - 130

Day 46

So I got up around noon, had some cereal, test drove a Camaro, and went shopping. I didn't MEAN to go shopping. It just kinda happened. I popped into Ross to glance around for a purse (a particular look of purse that I think I must have made up in my dreams because I couldn't find it) but ended up finding TWO purses and FIVE dresses.

Oh, the joy of trying on clothes that fit! I didn't even mind that they were still size L, they just looked so good. I told Mark I could stop right here and be happy, but I wont because I know how much better it can get. Keep an eye out for me in the new dresses, I look HOT!

So by the time I got home, it was 5pm and I had still had nothing all day but the cereal, and decided to go for a run. By the time I got my shoes on, my tummy was grumbling so I had a banana and was out the door. Made it ALMOST to Mt. Tabor park! 3.36 miles!

Then showered and treated myself to the pub for dinner. There was nothing similar to a Cornish Pastie in my phone app that I use to track calories, so I ordered the fish n chips. I know, why would a girl who hates fish order that? Well, when it's hot and fresh it's a little like chicken, only less flavor and I know it's good for me so I eat it until I remember it's fish and I stop. I never over-eat fish. Plus I ended up pulling off most of the breading and only had about a dozen fries. I is good girl :)

Monday morning, 164.5 lbs

Food detail:

Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal - 200
1/2 cup skim milk - 43
banana - 105
fish n chips (inaccurate because I pulled off breading and didn't eat most of the fries) - 570
1 pint Magners cider - 210 (actually reserched)
Breyers smooth and dreamy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream sandwich - 160

total = 1288 (but probably not because of the fish thing)

Sunday, April 3, 2011

Day 45

Woohoo! Scale was very nice to me this morning, 1.5 more down! And I thought I was going to go over yesterday when I started the day with a bowl of 200 calorie cereal. I guess there's a reason it's called "Kashi GoLean"!

Anywho, didn't do much else, I was supposed to go for a run and/or plant pumpkins but instead I picked up a pair of pants and Goodwill and started making a new purse. Was up till 1 a.m. and still didn't finish it, but I'm close. Oh, and I test drove a '96 Eclipse 5spd and I think I'm in love. As soon as the Acura sells that's what I'm gonna get... not necessarily that year, and definitely not THAT car (broken windshield, leaking sunroof) but a 95 to 99. I had a 97 Spyder that I bought new in 97 and drove till I got my first pink truck and loved it. But it got traded in when Carl got his beemer. But anyway, back to the diet...

Sunday morning, 164.5 lbs

Food detail:

1 cup Kashi GoLean Crunch - 200
1/2 cup skim milk - 43

homemade porkchop schnitzel includes:
2.5 saltines - 32
1/4 egg - 18
3oz boneless porkchop - 158
Breyers Smooth and dreamy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream sandwich - 160

total = 1002

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Day 44

Went out to dinner last night, fairly uneventful. Local Italian place at which I don't really like the food. Ok, that's not fair, I judge all Italian places by their Bolognese and if they don't offer that then their spaghetti with meat sauce. De Nicolas is just not great at that. Mark's baked ravioli, however, looked fantastic. Maybe I should try something else next time. But the food arrived fast enough that I didn't end up eating the bread basket, so that's something.

Saturday morning, scale is having a rough day. If I weigh myself over by the toilet, it's still 166. If I move the scale perpendicular to the tub I'm 165. Let's call it 165.5 lbs.

Food detail:

1 large egg - 74
